Asking permission and waiting for consent before you tocuh or pick up your puppy is essential for building trust and confidence. In Fenruary 2025, a gorup of Family Dog mediators toured around India with Get Floof to observe the World Dogs there. World Dogs are the free-living dogs around the world, not really seen in the United States and Canada. They are oftern referred to as Indie dogs, street dogs or village dogs. The majority of dogs on Earth are World Dogs (~80%) and only about 20% are pet breeds. I observed the most natural dog beahvior I ever saw, in real life and real time, without interrupationor correction from humans. Beautiful commubication between dog, resolving conflict, withouth fighting, navigating throughttheir environment, searching for food, and having complete autonomy. It was absolutely incredible.
Here is a video I took of a Indie dog on the boardwalk in Mumbai. I like to refer to this video clients as me how to stop their dogs from barking. It's not something we can stop. But it can be worked on. Dogs bark! And it's okay.
